VW Fault Code P30C0 – Fuel Quality Inadequate
Common on VAG Models (e.g., 2020 VW Tiguan)

ECU: Bosch ME17.5.22

Symptoms:
EPC light stays on
Fault code P30C0 logged
Reduced engine power / limited acceleration

Cause:
Fault code P30C0 indicates poor fuel quality—typically "Fuel Quality – Inadequate." This may be caused by low-grade fuel or aftermarket engine tuning. It often triggers limp mode, restricting vehicle performance.

Solution Overview:
Disabling the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) alone will turn off the EPC light, but the engine may still be speed-limited. To fully restore performance, both the speed limiter and the DTC must be removed.

Solution Steps:
Remove Speed Limit
Disable P30C0 DTC

Procedure Using CG FC200 (or similar programmer)

1. Connect to ECU
Launch FC200 software

Select: VW → Bosch ME17.5.22 (TC1724)



Refer to bench mode wiring diagram

Connect FC200 to ECU



2. Read ECU Data
Identify ECU



Read and save PFlash
(Backup full data before proceeding in case something goes wrong.)



3. Modify Data
A. Speed Limit Off

In the editor, search for the line starting:
31 32 32 32 2F 30 30 to: 23 23 20 20 22 22
replace all with: FF FF FF FF FF FF



B. DTC Off

First position:
Find: 01 01 01 01 15
Change to: 01 01 01 01 00



Second position:
Find: FD 03 FD 03 FD 03 FF FF FD 03 00 00 00 00 FF FF to the last four bytes at the end of the next line, change to FF FF



4. Final Steps
Save the modified file



Write it back to the ECU

Reinstall ECU into the vehicle.
