How to Solve "Failed to Get Authorization Code" for CG FC200?

Problem:

The CG FC200 is unable to connect with a VW Simos PCR2.1 ECU — it fails to read or write, even after completing an update.

The software displays the error:
"EF0A: Failed to get authorization code."



Solution:

This error typically occurs when the online server connection is interrupted after an update. The FC200, like other high-end tools (e.g., KESS3 Original), relies on an active online license to function properly.

While the FC200 annual subscription is affordable (around $200/year), all advanced features — such as checksum correction, IMMO OFF, and DTC OFF — require an active upgrade service period and internet access. Only limited basic ECU reading/writing functions are available offline.

Since the PCR2.1 requires checksum correction, the FC200 must be connected to the internet with a valid subscription for successful operation.
